Each year the Seward Rotary Club honors a local, long time teacher from the Seward area and presents the dictionaries in their honor.
John Lutheran School receives their dictionaries from the Prange family, as a memorial to their parents, Truman and Esther Prange.
They distribute them to local third graders through the Dictionary Project based Public schools in jordan Charleston, South Carolina. It is our vision that every student will achieve success and graduate as a life-long learner, globally competitive, prepared for career, college, and life.
Each team competed in a round-robin contest to determine placement in the annual single elimination quiz bowl contest —asking teams general knowledge questions.

The dictionaries were distributed to the students by local members of the Seward Rotary Club to each class and they discussed the project with the students. We continue to have one of the highest graduation rates in the state and our dropout rate continues to decline.
Our schools continue to receive positive recognition for student performance on the North Carolina ABCs accountability model. This is a major, annual project of many Rotary Clubs across the nation and internationally.

The students from SHS competed in a variety of performance and static contests, with students competing in education contests on August 25 and 26 at the State Fair. We have a reputation of being one of the top school systems in the state, and we want to continue to achieve at high levels and provide a rich learning environment for our students.
Luckily, it was all just a driving simulation using virtual reality, car sensors, and impact video to show students the dangers of distracted driving. Our students excel in many extracurricular areas such as band, chorus, and athletics.
